One way to save money is to buy powdered laundry detergent as well as buying store brands only instead of name brands. Name brands cost more and powdered laundry detergent goes a long way unlike the liquid brands. The powder also uses fewer resources than liquid so it is the better choice.

When it comes to temperature, always use the cold temperature when washing clothes. This saves you money on your power bill and still gets clothes clean. Also wash full loads only. Don’t wash every single time that you have dirty clothes. You waste water and energy when you are not doing full loads of laundry.

Another money saver would be to use the shortest washing cycle for moderately soiled clothing.  This uses less energy and runs less, saving you electricity and water.

Here is an idea for you. Use baking soda in your wash water. This just adds to the cleaning and deodorizing of your laundry.

When it comes to drying clothes, here are some suggestions. Why not line dry your clothes instead of drying them in the dryer?  If you have a clothesline, this can be your answer to drying clothes in the dryer.

If you simply have to dry your clothes in the dryer, make sure that you keep the lint trap clean. This saves money and energy. Use the smallest amount of time for drying clothes or use different cycles of drying to dry your clothing with. This will save you money in the long run and cut costs when it comes to operation of your washer and dryer.

As you can see, there are plenty of ways to save money when doing laundry and some of these tips are little more than common sense. These tips can help you slash your laundry costs and help you get clothes washed and dried more efficiently. Isn’t this what saving money is all about anyway?
