This my fourth article in my series of articles on Legitimate Work from Home Jobs. I have already talked about my inspiration around writing this series here. I have also talked about Work from Home Call Center Jobs in my previous article, and have also talked about common Work from Home Scams.

One thing that is essential to start Work at Home Day Care Business is to that you need have unconditional love and compassion for children. It is not same as caring for your own children. If you think you are up for it, then only think about taking up this career.

Once you decide that you want to start a Day Care business, there are many things to be done. First of all, you need to find what are your state laws and city laws for Day Care providers. Some states require all day care providers to be licensed, some do not, and some require a license only if you have more than a particular number of children in your Day care. (Like this article? Once you have understood the laws, you need to fill the required forms, get some mandatory medical tests done for you and your family, and also get your home inspected. All these take some time, but do not require lot of money. You might also have to take some classes, such as how to give first aid and administer CPR.

After you have obtained permission to open a Day care provider business, you need to shop around for equipment that you will need. All the stuff can be obtained for very less cost. The best part is that this is just a one time investment, and does not entails continuously spending the money.

Finally, you need to start enrolling children. I recommend 3 methods for marketing your day care:

  • Try to enroll kids of your friends. Give them some good faith discount. They already know you, so it will be easier to get business from them.
  • Put an ad in local craigslist. That will definitely get you lots of potential customers.
  • Print out some brochures for your Work at home Day care business, and circulate in your neighborhood. I recommend circulating 1,000 brochures initially.

All the above methods would get you required number of children, and soon you will be making decent money from your Day Care Business.

I have also read at a few places that federal grant is also available for such Day Care businesses. So, you can try for that as well.

My intent of writing this article is to just introduce you to the idea of taking up Day Care business as a Work from Home opportunity. I have given a brief overview of this business here, and if you think you like this idea, you can explore it further. There are many websites around that promise to provide all the details about this business by taking a small fee. I have not used their services myself, so I cannot recommend any of those. If you want to read further, I would advise you head to your local library and local Social Services office, and try to get resources about Day Care Business from there.
