1) Eat Before You Go
One of the biggest expense in the malls is on Food and Drinks. A very simple way to avoid that is by ensuring that have some good food before going to mall. I even prefer to keep a soda can with me, to save a few bucks on drink as well. Do not go to the mall with an empty stomach and full wallet. In case I do need to buy something to eat, I try to hit vending machines, and food courts. Restaurants are a big NO at the mall. 2) Sign Up For Your Favorite Store’s Mailing List
Many of the big stores have mailing lists for which you can sign up for free. Once you sign up for those, stores will send you lots of coupons that can be used for future visits. Normally, the coupons are really fantastic, and would help you in saving lots of money. I have signed up for Prime Outlets mailing list, and their coupons have saved me literally hundreds of dollars.

3) Find Coupons from Local Newspaper
Each week in your Sunday paper, many of the large department stores include coupons for a certain amount:  10%, 15% or 20% off. While the coupons are typically not applicable on all items, they still provide an easy way to save few bucks. You can also try to get coupons from the visitor desk of the mall. Normally they offer such coupon booklets for free, or for a small fee.

4) Make A List
The whole idea behind malls is to encourage impulse buying. That’s the single aim which dictates the design of malls, and layout of the stores within them – to tempt shoppers in buying stuff that they did not originally intend to buy. The best way to avoid that is to prepare a list of what you want to shop, and stick to that. (Click here to be notified via email when a similar article is published)

5) Put a Spending Limit
Apart from creating a list, you also need to fix the amount of money that you can spend at the mall, and then stick to that limit. This would ensure that you do not spend more than what you budgeted on items in your list.

6) Visit the Outlet Stores And Discount Stores
Try to do all of your shopping from outlet stores and discount stores. They carry similar stuff as other bigger brand stores, but carry significant savings over them. The prices are normally lower by at least 25-30%. On top of that, if you hit these stores during sales, you will be amazed by the rock bottom prices.
